Learn self-awareness skills to first calm yourself in stressful situations before attempting to gain compliance from others. You will learn to:
- Name and measure the emotion from an incident
- Use breathing to regulate yourself in stressful or anxious situations
- Use tapping or thumbnail squeezing to regulate yourself before, during or after stressful situations
- Focus self-awareness on your own wheel of life areas of satisfaction and growth
- Reflect on personal, workplace, and courage inclusion tendencies
- Use the language of virtues/qualities to acknowledge others
Workshop #2 - The Power of Two - 1-2-1 Managerial conversations that work
Focus on improving the quality and results of managerial leadership by upskilling your 1-2-1 conversation abilities.
You will learn to:
- Reflect on what you learned previously and practice the skills in 1-2-1 settings.
- Recognize your own communication tendencies.
- Companion others to increase rapport and empathy, reinforce by mirroring virtues/qualities you see.
- Practice using probing, evocative, non-judgmental questions.
- Use managerial incidents to apply appropriate questioning for solving conflicts and for performance issues.
Workshop #3 - The Power of Team: Building Agreement and Pre-Commitment
Build your team’s managerial leadership skill base with probing questions, safety/wellbeing/encouragement and learning, and setting clear expectations with monitoring for results.
You will learn to:
- Use probing/curious/evocative questions to address specific issues/incidents
- Consider all teamwork and projects in terms of their ability to provide SWEL (safety, well-being, encouragement, learning)
- Set clear expectations by understanding what “done” looks like at different levels of job/task development
- Remember the criteria for effective feedback
- Increase team buy-in with pre-agreement
- Measure commitment levels at an initial benchmark level
Workshop #4 - The Power of System: Solving People-System Problems
People systems, administrative systems, and tech systems are not always in alignment. Get them to work together to maximize your managerial impact.
You will learn to:
- Identify hidden cultural expectations around feedback and setting company expectations
- Uncover hidden people systems and apply them to one current recurring problem
- Apply SWEL to a software rollout initiative from a people systems perspective
- Channel resistance to cue emotional safety for a situation
- Measure and accept commitment levels as you see resistance drop and commitment increase

When Courses Are Offered
These management leadership classes are offered for two types of audiences:
For companies who wish to enroll manager groups or heads of departments within their company in small cohorts so everyone applies the concepts and terminology within a similar timeline. Course start and end dates are chosen according to what works for the organization. Connect here to choose a time to discuss your situation and needs.
For individual enrollments in winter and spring each year. Managers from various organizations learn together in the same cohort according to the four week winter and spring timelines.
Winter 2025 – January 8,15,22,29 (Wednesdays -1-4 pm each date)
Spring 2025 – April 3,9,17,24 (Thursdays – 9 am-12 pm each date)
